Even though the Smoky Mountain area is known for being family-friendly, it also has lots of great things to do for older crowds! Learn about some of the fun activities and put them on your itinerary! Here is a list of 4 fun things to do in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge for adults:
Gatlinburg’s Ober Mountain is a place with lots of fun activities. For example, visitors love downhill mountain biking in the warmer months. The attraction provides a bike along with all the necessary safety gear and teaches visitors how to ride if needed! Take the ATV up the mountain and ride back down. Enjoy the thrill of high speeds while admiring the beauty of nature. While you're at Ober Mountain, be sure to check out the other great things to do. Go ice skating, ride the Tennessee Flyer mountain coaster, and more!
The Village in Gatlinburg is an area in downtown Gatlinburg with many unique shops. It is modeled after an old-time European village. Pick out a deliciously scented candle at Candle Cottage, a family-founded business. Get one that smells like your favorite dessert, or choose a more natural scent like Fresh Mountain Air, Honeysuckle, or Lavender. You’ll need to make a delicious dish or enjoy a refreshing beverage while your candle burns, so take a short walk to The Spice and Tea Exchange. Choose from the shop’s collection of handmade spices that level up any dish. The shop also has a great selection of hot and iced tea. It includes both classic choices and their own unique creations.
Exploring the Titanic Museum in Pigeon Forge is another fun thing to do, especially if you love learning about American history. The museum building itself is a half-scale replica of the RMS Titanic that includes the infamous iceberg. At the beginning of your visit, you are given a boarding pass of an actual Titanic passenger. The exhibits teach visitors about what it was like to be a passenger on the ship and the infamous sinking. For example, you can walk up a $1 million model of the Grand Staircase, see models of the living quarters, sit in an actual-size lifeboat, and learn how to send out a SOS signal. Additionally, stop by the museum’s Memorial Room to learn the fate of the passenger on your boarding pass.
There are a lot of great distilleries and wineries in the Smoky Mountain area, one of which is Old Forge Distillery! They specialize in making delicious spirits from fresh mountain water and stone-ground grains! Get classic moonshine or try one of the fun flavors. Options include Chocolate, Elderflower, or Oatmeal Cookie. They also have cream liqueurs along with bourbon, whiskey, and rum. There are so many great choices! Having trouble choosing something you like? Have samples of the spirits in the Tasting Room, or try them in a cocktail at the Cocktail Bar! Another place to visit is Ole Smoky Moonshine Holler. Visitors can tour the facility and see all that goes into making the delicious spirits. Some of their unique flavors include Sour Apple and Blueberry Lavender moonshine. Sample their selection while listening to live music.
