Gatlinburg Winter Magic returns to town this November as the millions of lights for Winterfest bring the Parkway to life with holiday displays! There is no better way to experience these amazing light displays than on the Trolley Ride of Lights, a memorable journey through downtown and along the Gatlinburg Parkway. Sit back, relax and leave the driving to someone else so that you can fully appreciate this magnificent event! Here is everything you need to know about the Gatlinburg Winter Magic Trolley Ride of Lights:
The Gatlinburg Winter Magic Trolley Ride of Lights takes visitors on a delightful 45-minute journey through the town’s multi-million dollar magical light displays. This is a fantastic way to soak up the spirit of the holiday season with your family and friends as you ride in an enclosed and heated trolley. The unique LED lighting displays feature animals native to Great Smoky Mountains National Park such as deer, bears, foxes, squirrels and rabbits. The usage of quarter-watt LED bulbs instead of 5-watt incandescent bulbs saves Gatlinburg about 95 percent in energy waste. Of course, there are also traditional winter scenes such as whimsical snowmen, a shiny rocking horse and more! Unlike previous years, the 2019 winter trolley ride includes a costumed storyteller as your guide, a complimentary cup of hot chocolate and a special Christmas token!
The Gatlinburg Winter Magic Trolley Ride of Lights is operated by Gatlinburg’s trolley system, the fifth largest mass transit system in Tennessee. The Trolley Ride of Lights route departs from the Gatlinburg Welcome Center at traffic light #5 for a ride through the Gatlinburg Winter Magic displays three times nightly from November 22 through December 31 and each Saturday night in January. The only exceptions are the first Friday in December, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, when the tour does not operate at all. Departure times are 6:30 p.m., 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on each night of operation.
Admission to the Gatlinburg Winter Magic Trolley Ride of Lights is only $10 per person! Children under 3 years old are admitted for free if they are sitting in an adult’s lap.
