3. Drive Through Cades Cove

For a delightful morning or afternoon that won’t cost anything except for the fuel in your car, take a drive on the 11-mile loop trail through Cades Cove. This one-way loop offers some of the best opportunities for wildlife viewing in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, so keep an eye out for white-tailed deer, black bears, turkeys and other critters! Note that the road is available for motor vehicles from sunrise to sunset daily. The only exception is on every Saturday and Wednesday morning from early May to late September, when only bicycle and foot traffic are allowed on the loop road until 10 a.m.
