The Extreme Weather Zone at WonderWorks in Pigeon Forge examines how weather affects humans and their environment. Feel a Category 1 hurricane wind whip through your hair at speeds of 74 miles per hour. Feel the force of an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.3 on the Richter scale. Become a human lightning rod as you stick your hand in a steel armor glove while it receives 10,000 volts of electricity. Finally, feel the chill of 28℉ water. This was the temperature of the North Atlantic Ocean when the RMS Titanic sank in April 1912.
This Wonder Zone examines different forces put on humans through physical changes. For example, see how it will feel to lay on a bed of 3,500 nails. Figure out how pulleys work and learn about the advantages of using them in everyday life. Go to the Bubble Lab and blow bubbles that are big enough for you to fit inside. Additionally, discover the mystery behind a bubble’s pretty colors.
The Space Discovery Zone offers some amazing experiences to anyone who dreams of being an astronaut and going into space. You can have a great photo opportunity when you step inside a replica of a life-size space suit. If you really want to feel what it would be like to be in space, take a ride on the gyroscope. It rotates in all directions and imitates the feeling of weightlessness. You can also lay in a replica of a Mercury capsule. Astronauts traveled in these small devices during NASA’s Project Mercury. The goal of this mission was to put a human in orbit around the Earth.
Along with their Wonder Zones, WonderWorks in Pigeon Forge has plenty of other fun activities. The attraction houses the world’s largest indoor ropes course. Climb 4 stories of rope as you encounter more than 50 different obstacles, some of which include swinging steps and lily pads. Don’t forget to take a moment to admire the course’s fun glow-in-the-dark theme. WonderWorks also has a laser tag maze. See if you can find your way around without getting caught by opponents. Additionally, you can go watch a movie in the 4D Motion Theater. Visitors have a unique viewing experience because they are immersed in the action through full motion seating and special effects.
